Burst pipe
A split supply line is both a pipe problem and a building-protection problem. The route below the break, nearby electricity, ceiling weight, and duration of flow determine the immediate exposure.

Notice the signs
Record the pipe location, material if known, water temperature, first sound, rooms below, visible spray direction, and whether a private building master stopped the flow. Preserve a view of the failed section before disposal if access is already safe.
Protect the room
Move people away from sagging finishes and wet power. Never use an open flame on a frozen line, climb into an unstable wet cavity, or operate the meter, curb control, or other department hardware.
Material note
