Cohasset's December 2025 lead service inventory is an address-level resource. Neighborhood age, pipe color, a magnet, or town-wide compliance does not reliably identify every segment at one property.

Notice the signs
Look up the service address carefully, retain the dated classification, compare any mailed notice, and ask Cohasset Water how unknown or galvanized entries should be confirmed. Note which side or component the record actually covers.
Protect the room
Do not scrape, cut, sand, or disturb suspected material for identification. Sampling and replacement should follow current water-department and public-health guidance rather than a visual guess.
Material note
The inventory supports planning, not a private diagnosis or promise of funding. Provider service area, ownership boundary, material status, assistance, sampling, and replacement approval are distinct questions.
Service flow
A service-line proposal should separate record verification, field confirmation, street-side and customer-side segments, route, approved material, water shutdown, permits, excavation, flushing, sampling, surfaces, and documentation.
Close the loop
Collect the department's updated classification, approvals, inspection, pre-backfill photos, installed material record, and any post-work instruction. Future owners need a traceable record, not an unlabeled piece of removed pipe.
