Notice the signs
Observe
Dry only reachable surfaces, then note whether moisture returns while fixtures are idle, under cold flow, under hot flow, during drainage, or during an appliance cycle. Include rooms above and below, the water temperature, and any recent fixture or finish work.
Protect the room
Safety line
Avoid wet outlets, panels, lights, equipment, and unstable ceilings. Use a familiar fixture stop or private master only when it operates normally from a safe position; a resistant valve can create a second failure.
Material note
Local boundary
A plumber can evaluate private piping, fixtures, and drains, while drying, electrical clearance, cabinet work, and finish restoration may require separate scopes. Street water or utility equipment should be reported through the relevant current provider path.
Service flow
Written scope
A comparable proposal identifies the suspected source, diagnostic method, access point, protection, included repair, pressure or use test, debris handling, and restoration exclusions. It should distinguish an observed fact from an assumption behind a closed surface.
Close the loop
Verification
Photograph the wide setting and the first wet edge before repair. At closeout, repeat the condition that previously produced moisture when safe, inspect adjacent connections, and record which surfaces still require drying or monitoring.
